Trust is a hard thing sometimes. We say the words, and we want to trust, but do we really? In my job, I handle massive amounts of data. Many steps go into producing this data and in turn this data influences the next set of steps in the process. I've been doing my job for so long that it's very hard for me to let go of even what should be very mundane tasks. A good 20% of my time each day is spent just checking the status and flow of data and making sure it's correct. What should be easy to let go of, really isn't.
I wonder, do we trust God? The words are easy to say, especially if the wind and the waves of life are calm. This week we are introduced to Abram and Sarai. After the turmoil of Babel, some certainty and calmness is needed. Of note, it's curious how we are introduced. Reading Genesis chapters 10 and 11, the generations of Noah are listed. I don't see a lot of mention of wives, but then Genesis 11:29-30 tells us about Abram, Nahor, and their wives.
Let's see where God is leading us in Genesis 12 and the next few chapters, and as you read, keep this question in the background: Does Abram trust God, and what does that mean to me today?
