Drizzle, drizzle, drizzle

I'm looking out my window. There is a pretty good drizzle. It's been a tough couple weeks. Really cold. Really wet. Did I mention cold? What if we could choose our weather? I'd pick mid to upper 60's at night and low 80's during the day. It would be sunny all day. The rain would only come as needed, no floods, no droughts and always at night when I was sleeping. Except for that occasion when sitting on the porch on a quiet evening with a cup of coffee listening to the sounds of rain on the roof.
Here is a shocking statistic for those of you who like that kind of thing. One hundred percent of the time I don't get to decide the weather. Amazing! But I have an umbrella. And a rain coat. And a light jacket. And a thick coat. And a hat. Sunglasses. A house to stay in with heat and air. You get the idea. We can't control what's "out there" but we can control "us". And I wasn't talking about the weather, but about our study on happiness.
Last week we ended with a brief mention of Matthew. Let's start there (Luke 5:27-32 and Rom 15:7). After that, and this could be one of the most important ones, admonishment. I'll be honest, when I even say admonish, I have it all wrong. I always thought of it as a scolding. It's pretty much exactly the opposite (Col 3:16). And then the big one ... forgiveness. We all say we forgive (Eph 4:32), but do we? How often have we heard "I'll forgive .. but I won't forget!" It's a little like me not changing my diet or exercise and expecting to lose weight.
See ya tomorrow, and bring a smile!
Mark
