Hang on ... it might get bumpy!

It was a cold week. Way too cold. One of those colds where you just wait and want it to be not cold. So as we think about our next steps in happiness I'm thinking "it'll be a lot easier to be happy when it's not so cold". I guess this study is for me. I've had so many things this week show up in the "not happy" column.

My career seems to be out of control. Since I was thirty years old I've had the same employer. And I've been a big part of the companies direction (or at least I think I have). But lately, it feels like I'm just drifting. It's a little bumpy. We have meetings all the time. Last week, I ran about a two hour meeting explaining in detail a certain process that directly affects how we count our beans. The hope was to find a bright spot, something we had overlooked, something missed that would be an improvement. When we finished there were no happy faces.

Yesterday we had a delivery of plywood. We were ready to work all day and check this item off the list! When the truck arrived it took a good hour in the blistering cold to get it unloaded. It hadn't been strapped down properly and the weight had shifted. Everything was topsy-turvy. What should have been several nice squarely stacked blocks of plywood turned into a deck of cards that had been pushed over on the table. Someone between here and Anniston got a few sheets of plywood! So we were delayed in starting to work. And it was cold. And we were slow. And it was cold. During our day I got a call from a friend. Sorry friend. I was not very positive or upbeat on the call. I didn't really push the happy envelope any, probably said a few things I should have thought about a minute or two longer before I spoke.

Do we stop being Christians when it's tough? Do we just wait it out? Give up? Do we use the crossed finger method for our lives? I mean nothing is going the way we want it to and no one is living how we think they should and no one is on my side ... right? Do we just spread our sour pills to everyone who'll listen? Misery does love company as they say!

This week let's talk about:

1. How we serve (Gal 5:13)

2. How we act around those we don't agree with, and who probably don't agree with us (Rom 15:7)

3. And the toughest one, admonish one another (Col 3:16)

See you tomorrow!
