This week, we start "in the beginning," literally. I want us to begin with Genesis, the creation, the garden, and the fall of mankind. How's that for a first step!!
Get a cup of coffee, turn off the TV, and read Genesis chapters 1 through 4. I'm sure we won't discuss all four chapters, but let's have this as our "here's where we're headed." Then, step back a little and ponder these questions:
Who wrote Genesis, when, why?
In what language was it written, how was it written, how was it read?
What version of the Bible are you reading, why, how did this version come to be?
If you didn't have a Bible available to you and in your hands right now, how would God communicate with you?
Now circle back to Genesis: how are the details of creation listed in Genesis 1 different from other versions of creation in various religions?
And finally, what did God really want from Adam and Eve?
Looking forward to our new beginning, see you Sunday!
