Wow, what a Sunday School we just had! So much energy; so many thoughts, ideas, and great discussions. I learned some things from our conversations. Read Gen 9:3 (after the flood) then go back and read Gen 1:29-30 (during creation)! Wow... I totally missed that.
We barely got into our discussions on translations, creation, etc. Did you know in Gen 1:1 "In the beginning God 'created'...." the original Hebrew word for created was "bara." In Hebrew, bara means "created from nothing" and while we see "created" throughout the Bible, this instance is the only time "bara" was used. Wow.
Did I say WOW already???
Keep thinking about Genesis chapters 1-4. We have just dipped our toes in the waters and have a lot deeper to go. What day were waters created again...
Thoughts:
What does it mean to be created in God's own image?
Why did God use Adam's rib? Why not a bone from his skull or his foot?
What day did a third of the angels fall?
How is our biblical depiction of creation different from other other religions/world views/non-views?
And finally, why did God create Adam and Eve and, by extension, you and me?
