Wind, Rain and CAKE!!!!!

Good morning MVBC! Had any rain and wind lately? How lucky we are that we got a few days of much needed rain but we missed the devastation occurring around us.

I wanted to send out a reminder to all about our 5th Sunday lunch and cake auction tomorrow. Everyone bring a dish and we'll have a wonderful time. I can almost smell the homemade soups, casseroles, breads, yummy. I think I have an unopened jar of kimchi I might bring! And to top off our meal we will be auctioning off cakes (pies, sweets, anything) after the meal to support our OCC efforts. Our goal is 375 boxes as a church plus any that individual members bring. Personally, I think we'll break 550! Keep your eye on that auctioneer, he's a fast talker! He prefers red velvet, lemon pies, cheesecakes, chocolate cake, banana puddings ... well ... he prefers everything!

If you studied your Sunday School lesson, pay attention to the last section on pg 66-67. The Greeks had two words for time, chronos (how we consider time, like your watch or your calendar) and kairos (like a special opportunity or appointed time). Tomorrow is our kairos time. We have an opportunity to fellowship, enjoy, laugh, and help a child far away from us that we will never meet face to face. That notebook and pencil set in our box will help them learn. That jump rope or toy car will help them play with their friends. That bar of soap and toothbrush will help them stay clean. That entire box may provide the hope that literally changes their future.

See you tomorrow MVBC!
